About Matt the hypnotherapist
Experience as a hypnotherapist.
I’ve been a hypnotherapist for over 16 years, working with all sorts of conditions. Through long experience and training I have developed a range of specialisms. These include; anxiety, sexual problems, addictions & obsessions and IBS.
I have taught hypnotherapy around the world at universities and medical schools. In 2012 I founded the ‘Evidence Based Practice in Clinical Hypnotherapy’ annual conference. Currently I am researching the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) with hypnotherapy with the University of Birmingham, where I also act as a visiting lecturer to the medical school.
Skills & Training
I originally trained with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) with whom I then lectured for 11 years, this provided the core of my skills and included Parts therapy, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Ego State therapy, Regression techniques, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Behavioural therapy, Metaphorical and Direct approaches.
Following that I have attended training in Nutrition, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), in addition to an ongoing programme of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). I am a Diplomate member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) and a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).
